iPhone Application Development

January 14th, 2010

We are now in the middle of developing our first iPhone Application!

Its all still hush hush at the moment, but we are well on our way. The iPhone GUI (graphical user interface) has been completed and is now being developed in the native iPhone programming language (Objective-C + Cocoa framework). Creating this application has been a huge (but insightful) learning curve for us, getting to know the in’s and out’s of iPhone App Development, which has gotten us very excited about our application idea (yes, we already have another app that is currently in its wireframing and IA (information architecture) stages). Watch this space, there will be more news and updates as we continue through the process (and after maybe a case study to help others on their iPhone Application Development journey).

In other news; We have added a few extra services pages to the Toast Design website:

Cheers.

See you in 2010.

December 22nd, 2009

We’re done for the year, and will be back in 2010. Cheers to each and every one of the clients we have worked with (big and small) in 2009.

Looking back, we’ve had a huge year. New staff, new office, new clients and endless work – which is always a good thing. We’ve packaged, branded, rebranded, motion designed, web designed, flashed, web developed, illustrated,  printed, advertised, stamped, innovated, SEO’d, photographed, retouched, conceptualised, marketed, copywritten..the list goes on.

Merry Christmas, Happy New year and all that jazz.

Application forms have a tendency to come across as quite bland for one simple reason – clarity of information. There’s a fine line between form and function and it can be difficult to create a balance that looks nice, and is user-friendly. We’re quite happy with our latest application form for Flower Power’s Garden Lovers Club. Flower Power were great to work with and allowed us to create something that made everyone happy (including their data entry team).

Garden Lovers (who sign up to the club at an astonishing rate) appreciate all things flora, and we aimed to create a lively piece of design with blooms of foliage as key design elements, while maintaining a sensible hierarchy of information.

Business cards with metallic ink and spot varnish.

Business Cards with Metallic Ink and Spot Varnish

We recently rebranded J&B Build – a construction and development company. We just received their business cards from press, which we designed along with their new identity.

And for all the Graphic Designers out there who may be wondering how a Spot Varnish over Metallic Ink looks, we’ve done that on the front face of the cards. It adds a very subtle sheen, which jumps out when it hits light at the appropriate angle.
